Family Promise

Blount Family Promise is a ministry for homeless families in Blount County. This program allows up to four families (14 persons total) to be housed in churches in the Maryville/Alcoa area. Each host church provides space for one week every three months. Green Meadow United Methodist Church in Alcoa provides space for the Day Center, where the families go to get assistance finding housing, jobs, transportation, etc. We have a 14 passenger van to take children to school and provide transportation. A trailer is available to move the 14-16 beds each week between churches. 

St. Andrew's is scheduled to host families again October 10-18, 2010. This will be the third of approximately four weeks per year that we have committed to host in 2010. Broadway United Methodist Church is our support church and partners with us in this effort. Contact one of the following area coordinators if you are interested in volunteering.

All volunteers need to go to a training session before they participate. There are opportunities to be overnight host, evening host, Saturday host, and to help with food preparations, laundry or set-up.
